Julie was born on February 23rd, 1839 in Bischwiller, Bas-Rhin, France.1  Julie's father was Jacques Scherding and her mother was Elisabeth Hickel.  Her paternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>. She had a brother and four sisters, named Jacques, Madelaine, Marie, Frederique and Louise.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
