Esther was born on October 29th, 1809 in Tacolneston, Norfolk, England. Esther's father was Robert Daines and her mother was Mary N Newby. Her paternal grandparents were William Daines and Esther Hudson; her maternal grandparents were James Newby and Mary Rudd. She had four brothers and eight sisters, named Robert, William, James, John, Mary, Rebecca, Frances, Sarah, Elizabeth, Ann, Susanna and Mariah. She was the second oldest of the thirteen children.-
