Marie was born in 1588 in Canterbury, Kent Co., England.1   Marie's father was Gervois DeSpaigne and her mother was Marguerite Boussemar.  Her paternal grandparents were Jean DeSpaigne and Jaquesmine. She had three brothers and a sister, named Andre, Pierre, Jean and Jeanne.  She was the fourth oldest of the five children.
