His paternal grandparents were James Ruffin Yarbrough and Frances 'Fannie' Gentry; his maternal grandparents were John Thomas Gentry and Nancy C. Rhew. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Gertis Richard, Newton Jesse, Mary Rena and Rellia.General Notes
