Sir James Stewart of Periston 
James was born in 1276 in Pearston, Scotland.1 James' father was John of Bonkyl Stewart and his mother was Margaret de Bonkyl. His paternal grandparents were 4th High Steward of Scotland Alexander Stewart and Jean MacRorie of Bute; his maternal grandparents were Sir Alexander Bonkyl and <Unknown>. He had six brothers and a sister, named Alexander, Alan, Walter, John, Robert, Hugh and Isobel. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He had a half-sister named Margaret. He died as a war casualty, Battle of Halidon Hill, at the age of 57 in 1333 in Halidon Hill, Scotland.2 -
