Melville J. was born in 1863 in Grayson Co, TX.1 Melville J.'s father was Andrew J. Roberts and his mother was Tennessee Jane Steel. His paternal grandparents were Jeremiah Roberts and Rebecca E. Jones. He had four brothers and two sisters, named America, John S., James T., Andrew M., Margaret S. and Jeannie. He was the second youngest of the seven children.1 General Notes
