Thomas Benton was born on March 10th, 1881 in Huntsville, Yadkin Co, NC. Thomas Benton's father was Thomas Benton Knight and his mother was Mary Mahalia Carter. His paternal grandparents were John C. Knight and Elizabeth Roberts. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Fountain Martin, George Elbert, Nora Ellizabeth, Ida M., Olivia E. and Augusta Eugenia. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 85 on July 27th, 1966 in Madison, Rockingham Co, NC. He was buried in Riverview Cemetery, Madison, Rockingham Co, NC.General Notes
