William Melton Elkin 
William Melton was born on May 4th, 1814 in Green Co.,Kentucky. William Melton's father was Abel Elkin and his mother was Mary (Polly) Skaggs. His maternal grandparents were William (Squire) Skaggs and Mary Simpson. He had two brothers and six sisters, named James, Abel ,Jr., Rachel, Nancy, Betty, Polly, Diadema and Melvina. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 84 on November 24th, 1898 in Larue Co.,Kentucky.-
