William "Buck" Despain 
William "Buck" was born in 1831 in Green Co, KY. William "Buck"'s father was William Despain and his mother was Sarah Lewis. His paternal grandparents were James Scott DeSpain and Susan (Sally) Peterson. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Jeremiah (?), James, Lewis T, Benjamin Ryan, Susan, Rachel, Lucinda, Sarah and Suellen (Luella). He was the second youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 49 in 1880 in Andrew or Buchanan Co, MO.General Notes

William married Jane Wilburn about 1854 probably in Buchanan Co, MO, but there is no record of this union. William may have left for a time as there were no children born from 1857 to 1862 and Jane was listed alone in the 1860 census. There are several unknown children's deaths as Jane claimed to have had 10 children. This may explain the childless period of 1857-1862.
Jane applied for a Civil War pension 17 Apr 1892 in KS. William served in Co. K, Eastern MO Milt. Infanrty.
