Suellen (Luella) was born on July 10th, 1837 in Green Co, KY. Suellen (Luella)'s father was William Despain and her mother was Sarah Lewis. Her paternal grandparents were James Scott DeSpain and Susan (Sally) Peterson. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Jeremiah (?), James, Lewis T, Benjamin Ryan, William "Buck", Susan, Rachel, Lucinda and Sarah. She was the youngest of the ten children. She died at the age of 72 on June 30th, 1910 in ca Yamhill Co, OR. She was buried in Friends Cemetery, Newberg, Yamhill Co, OR.General Notes

She was mentioned as the wife of Walter Duncan and daughter of Sarah and William DeSpain in Deed Book # 24 page 547 dated 3 Jul 1858, Green Co, KY. They were married on 25 Nov 1852 in Buchanan Co, MO.
