Virgie's obituary was in "The Paris News", Monday, January 4,1999. It reads as follows:
Mrs. Herman L. (Virgie E.) Hoover, 97, of Pattonville died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at Paris Nursing Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bright-Holland Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Sparks and the Rev. Ray Evers officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetey.
The familywill receive friends from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and will be at the home of Charles Dudley and Agnes Hoover, 3725 Leigh Drive, at other times. The funeral services wil lconclude at the funeral home and the family will remain at the funeral home for those wishing to pay their respects.
Mrs. Hoover was born Jan. 29, 1901, in Lamar County. She was the daughter of Rufus and Ella Talley Dudley. She married Herman L.Hoover Dec. 30, 1918 in Lamar County. He preceded her in death in1976. She was a homemaker and lifelong member of the Shady Grove United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of the Women's Home Demonstration Club.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Hoover and wife Frances of Pattonville and Charles Dudley Hoover and wife Agnes of Paris; four daughters, Juanita Russell of Paris, Margaret Wadley of Paris, Glenna Harper of Powderly and Helen Hively and husband Thomas of Powderly; a brother Claudie Dudley of Deport; two sisters-in-law, Irene Maher of Dallas and Vada Mae Hoover of Tyler; 27 grandchildren, 61great-grandchildren, and 41 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Hoover.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Hively, Eddie McLaughlin, Thomas Lee Russell, Chuck Hoover, John Paul Hoover, Larry Hoover, Ewell Byrd, Odis Fagan, Joe Edwards, Bob Newberry, Joe Vaughn, and Jack Snow. Honary pallbearers will be Artie Ebbs, Robert Hood, Jimmy Wadley, Herman Wadley, Don Lozen, Mickey Rose, and NormanEmbrey.
