Mertle Ola was born on May 19th, 1886 in Darwin,Clark County,IL. Mertle Ola's father was John Leonard Collier and her mother was Elizabeth Savoree. Her paternal grandparents were Morgan Colyer Collier and Elizabeth (Betsy) Purvis. She had five brothers and six sisters, named James Purvis, William Morgan, John Madison, Francis Marion, Commodore Calvin, Elizabeth Davis, Alice Matilda, Lillie Mae, Martha Ellen, Melinda Isabel and Mary Dora. She was the third youngest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 78 on June 21st, 1964 in Clark County,IL.-
