Comte Baldwin VI (IX) 
Baldwin was born in July 1171 in Valenciennes, Hainault, Flandres.1 Baldwin's father was Comte Baldwin V (VIII) and his mother was Comtesse Margaret d'Alsace. His paternal grandparents were Comte Baudouin le Batisseur de Hainault IV and Adelheid de Namur. He had three sisters named Isabelle, Yolande and Sibyl. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 34 in 1205 in Adrianople.2 General Notes
