Mildred's father was Daniel Strope and her mother was Mary A. Mitchell. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Strope and Sarah Bosworth; her maternal grandparents were John Mitchell and Jane (Unknown). She had six brothers and two sisters, named James, Charles F., D. P., George W., H. G., John E., Mary Evaline and Anna.
