Abner was born about 1782 in Aarons Creek, (Mecklenburg Co.), Virginia.1 Abner's father was Drury Overby and her mother was Amie Jones. Her paternal grandfather was Nicholas Overby. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Nicholas, Richard, Daniel, Sarah, Elizabeth and Mary. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.-
