Charles Robert Filby 
Charles Robert was born on August 10th, 1910.1 Charles Robert's father was Winfield Lawrence Filby and his mother was Nannie Lucretia Stickle. His paternal grandparents were Robert Filby and Mary Evaline Strope; his maternal grandparents were Stephen Stickle and Hannah Viola Ketlor. He had two sisters named Gertrude Ione and Olive May. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 34 on March 25th, 1945 in Germany.2 Death Notes
He was killed during the invasion of Normandy Beach during World WarII. Charles was too young to go into the service, being the baby ofthe family, but wanted to go so badly that he used his sister Olive'sbirthdate to enlist. His dad said that if he wanted to go that much,he would sign for him; so they were both in on the falsification ofhis age to the U.S. Army. His tombstone in the Arlington NationalCemetery is incorrectly engraved with his sister's birthdate of 24Aug. 1908.
