Nancy was born in 1859 in Wetzel Co., Virginia.  Nancy's father was William Anderson and her mother was Sarah Church. She had seven brothers and a sister, named Daniel, William, Matthew, George Washington, Howard, Richard, James and Hannah.  She was the third youngest of the nine children.
