Louisiana was born on January 10th, 1837.1   Louisiana's father was Richard Welch and her mother was Elizabeth Leach.  Her paternal grandparents were Osias Welch and Betsy Harcourt. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Jesse, George W., Richard, William, Bennett, Hail Columbia, Elizabeth, Mary and Martha A..  She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.1
