Thankful was born on November 24th, 1774.1   Thankful's father was John Watson and her mother was Sarah Stratton.  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Watson and Margarette Gray. She had a sister named Jane.  She was the older of the two children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Samuel Smith, John S and Sarah.1
