John was born in 1857.1   John's father was John Turner and his mother was Mary Nesbit.  His paternal grandparents were John F. Turner and Hannah Idale. He had three brothers and nine sisters, named James, Frank, William, Eliza, Anna, Mary (Minnie), Catherine, Jerusha, Margaret, Edith, Laura and Jessie.  He was the third oldest of the thirteen children.  He died at the age of 44 in 1901.1
