Martha was born about 1658 in Portsmouth, RI.1   Martha's father was John Tripp and her mother was Mary Paine.  Her maternal grandfather was Anthony Paine. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Peleg, Joseph, Abiel, James, Mary, Elizabeth, Alice and Isabel.  She was the youngest of the ten children.  She died after 1717.1
