Jackson was born in 1866.1   Jackson's father was Elisha Thomas and his mother was Rachael Forst.  His paternal grandparents were Marchant Thomas and Jemima Hamilton. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Lincoln, Byred, Vincent, William, James, Washington, Burman, Susan and Sarah Jane.  He was the second youngest of the ten children.1
