Sarah was born about 1875.1   Sarah's father was Jesse C. Tatum and her mother was Louisa Surrency.  Her maternal grandparents were Samuel D. Surrency and Elizabeth Kennedy. She had three brothers and three sisters, named John, James H., Washington, Nancy Elizabeth, Fannie Leanora and America.  She was the second youngest of the seven children.1
