Lovin Erastus was born on March 4th, 1896.1   Lovin Erastus' father was Matthew Carter Smith and his mother was Victoria Brannen.  His paternal grandparents were Israel Smith and Adeline S. Carter; his maternal grandparents were Hampton Brannen and Nancy Riggs. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Joshua, William Hampton, James, Jincy, Rosa Dell, Eliza, Eugenia, Savillie Victoria, Mittie and Molly.  He was the third youngest of the eleven children. He had a half-sister named Frances Isabel.  He died at the age of 72 on December 6th, 1968.1
