Simon was born about 1804.1   Simon's father was Leonard Shroyer and his mother was Martha. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Philip, John, Leonard, Samuel, Daniel, Elizabeth, Polly and Anna.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.1
