John was born in 1613 in Weeks, Dainton Parish, Wiltshire, England and his baptism took place on March 26th, 1613 in Downton, Wilts, England.1   John's father was John Saunders and his mother was Alice Coles. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Moses, Elizabeth and Sarah.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 30 on September 28th, 1643 in Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts.1
