Mary E. was born in January 1864 in Screven Co., GA.1 Mary E.'s father was Howell Sasser and her mother was Mary Ann Daughtry. Her paternal grandparents were Howell Sasser and Susan A. Bell. She had four brothers and four sisters, named John B., James H., Claudius, Howell O., Jane E., Cornelia Susan, Juanita and Ida G.. She was the third youngest of the nine children.1 -
