Harriet M was born about 1817 in South Carolina.1   Harriet M's father was John Robinson and her mother was Jane. She had three brothers and five sisters, named John Ada, Seaborn Jacob, William Hutson, Elizabeth M, Christia Ann, Jane, Margaret E and Mary B.  She was the third youngest of the nine children.1
