Phoebe was born in July 1823 in Indiana.1   Phoebe's father was Joseph Remington and her mother was Mary ("Polly") Johnson.  Her paternal grandfather was Jacob Remington; her maternal grandparents were Reuben Johnaon and Phoebe Johnaon. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William M., Jacob, Mary A. and Jane Elizabeth.  She was the second youngest of the five children.  She died in Urbana, Benton Co., Iowa.1
