Edwin was born in 1833.1   Edwin's father was Seth Phillips and his mother was Mary Wilder.  His paternal grandparents were Chad Phillips and Sarah Weller. He had a sister named Mary.  He was the older of the two children. He had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Ephraim, Francis, George, Ira, Sarah, Lydia, Delia and Margaret.1
