Living's father was Johnny Eugene Nettles and his mother was Living Reed. His paternal grandparents were John Heyward Nettles and Ruby Frances Perry. He had two brothers and a sister, named William Heyward, Kenneth Reed and Living. He had a half-sister named Living.-
