Alexander was born about 1421 in Of, Merchiston, Mid Lothian, Scotland.1   Alexander's father was Alexander Napier and his mother was Elizabeth Lauder.  His paternal grandfather was Alexander Napier. He had two brothers and a sister, named John, Henry and Janet.  He was the second youngest of the four children.1
