His paternal grandparents were Charles Edwin Martin and Salina Margaret Sills; his maternal grandparents were Francis P. Powell and Anna Elizabeth Martin. He had six brothers and a sister, named George Francis, Charles Edwin, John Bertram, Josh Bell, Roy Maxwell, Henry Russell and Salina Marie. He died about 1942 in Bainbridge, GA.1 General Notes
