Anderson was born in 1807.1   Anderson's father was James Latta and his mother was Nancy Hannah Holloway.  His paternal grandfather was John Latta; his maternal grandfather was Thomas Holloway. He had three brothers and a sister, named Simpson N., Joseph, James and Mary.1
