Mattie Catherine was born on January 22nd, 1888 in GA.1 Mattie Catherine's father was James Allen Kitchens and her mother was Emma Moore. Her maternal grandparents were William Narissa Moore and Mary Matilda Waters. She had six brothers and three sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Edgar Joseph, Remer James, Roswald Alley, Robbie Lee, William R., John Wesley, Annie Maggie, Shelley Mary, Cynthia Virdell and Morris Esther.
