Thomas was born on December 25th, 1726 in , VA.¹ Thomas' father was Thomas Jones and his mother was Elizabeth Cocke. His paternal grandparents were Roger Jones and Dorothy Walker; his maternal grandparents were William Cocke and Elizabeth Catesby. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Frederick, William, Jekyll, Walter, Catesby, Lucy, Anne, Dorothea and Elizabeth.¹
