George was born in 1844.1   George's father was John B. Hyde and his mother was Eliza Davis.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Hyde and Elizabeth. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Kesiah, Rebecca and Mary.  He was the third oldest of the six children.1
