Samuel Hyde:
History of Union County; W.H. Beers; 1883; Vol. II; OHS Library:
Samuel and Elizabeth settled in Harrison County, Ohio after their marriage, probably in Pennsylvania. Had a slight acquaintance with General McArthur and was offered land in York Twp., Union Co., Ohio. In 1832 Samuel went west to Summersville, Ohio and built a cabin and planted crops then returned to Harrison for his family. He became ill on the trip back to Summersville and died of lung fever in Berkshire, Delaware Co., Ohio. His son, John, bought the property on which Samuel had built the cabin and remained there at least until 1883.
Samuel's only son was named John. Could his father have been John Hyde born 1751 and died 19 Mar 1823 married to Christina A Teexler, Sgt., Rev. War from Pennsylvania. A John Hyde is found in the 1780 Pennsylvania census in the city of Philadelphia, Mulberry Ward East Part.
