Thomas Holcombe 
Thomas was born about 1600 in Hole (Hull), Devonshire, England.1 Thomas' father was Gilbert Holcombe and his mother was Anne Elizabeth Courtenay. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Holcombe and Margaret Trethford; his maternal grandfather was Peter Courtenay. He had two brothers named Thomas and Alfred. He was the oldest of the three children. He died on September 7th, 1657 in Windsor, Hartford Co., CN.1 General Notes

Thomas Holcombe was one of a company of 140 Puritans and Dissenters who assembled in the New Hospital at Plymouth, England, with Bishops John Maverick and John Wareham in March, 1630, when these bishops were chosen as officers of the ship, "Mary and John". The "Mary and John" had been chartered for the voyage to the Charles River in Massachusetts. After a 70 day voyage, the ship arrived on May 30, 1630.
Town records of Dorchester, MA show Thomas Holcombe as a first settler there prior to January 1636. He was primarily a farmer. He moved in 1635/6 to the junction of the Farmington and Connecticut Rivers, where Windsor was founded.
Thomas Holcombe represented Windsor and Hartford County, Connecticut on the General Court; served for both courts at Hartford in framing the Constitution of the Colony of Connecticut; as a Deputy in 1649.
