John was born in 1622 in England and his baptism took place on May 26th, 1622 in Assington, Suffolk, England.1   John's father was Thomas French and his mother was Susan (Susannah) Riddlesdale.  His paternal grandparents were Jacob French and Susan Warren; his maternal grandparents were John Riddlesdale and Dorcas. He had a brother and six sisters, named Thomas, Alice, Dorcas, Susan, Ann, Margaret and Mary.  He was the second youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 310 on February 1st, 1932 in Deerfield, Massachusetts.1
