William H. was born about 1842.1   William H.'s father was Joel Dukes and his mother was Sarah Kennedy.  His maternal grandparents were Edward Kennedy and Cynthia Unknown. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Edward, Leander J., Henrietta R., Elizabeth A. and Mary A..  He was the second youngest of the six children.1
