John was born about 1349 in Of, Inchmohomo, Scotland.1   John's father was John Drummond and his mother was Mary Margaret.  His paternal grandfather was Malcolm Drummond. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Malcolm, William, Mary Margaret, Annabella and Margaret.  He was the third oldest of the six children.1
