Mary Doty 
Mary was born before 1734 in Bound Brook, New Jersey.1 Mary's father was Jonathan Doty and her mother was Mary. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Doty and Jane (Jeanne) Harmon. She had five brothers and two sisters, named William, Jonathan, Daniel, Joshua, Joseph, Jane and Elizabeth. She was the second youngest of the eight children.1 General Notes

The theory has been put forward that Mary Doty married Moses Cooper, but no firm evidence in support of this marriage has been found. Moses Cooper is recorded as marrying Mary Coleman; and the will of Samuel Coleman of Roxbury, NJ dated 16 July 1773, mentions "Daughter Mary Cooper", which tends to confirm this marriage.
Evidence has recently come to light to the effect that a son of Moses and Mary (Coleman) Cooper married Margaret, a daughter of Abraham and Cathreine (Doty) Van Voorhees. Catherine Doty was very likely the daughter of John Doty of Somerville NJ.
