  Although not supported by any known document, there are several reasons to believe that this marriage took place, and that 12 children resulted.  The will of Ahijah Chambers mentions his wife Elizabeth and 11 of the 12 children.  The (undocumented) twelfth child attributed to Ahijah was Jonathan, who was supposed to have been the second son, predeceasing his father.  presumably he was named after Elizabeth's father, since the first son, James, was evidently named for Ahijah's father.
  
  In addition, five other children (William, Joseph, Elizabeth, Mary, and Daniel) bear the names of Elizabeth's brothers and sisters.
  
  However, no other document has been found that supports the assertion that Elizabeth Doty married Ahijah Chambers.  Further confirmation of his family is required.
  
  The will of Ahijah Chambers of Byram, Sussex Co. NJ, dated 15 February 1801, proved 11 August 1801, mentions wife Elizabeth; three daughters Elizabeth, Phebe, and Mary; two youngest sons Robert and Daniel; and his other children:  James, Ahijah, Isaac, William, Joseph, and Deborah.  Son Robert was named as executor.
  
  Note:  it is possible that the Deborah named in Ahijah Chamber's will was the widow of his deceased son Jonathan, rather than this daughter.  In either case, there appears to be no further record of her.
  
  The five eldest surviving sons:  James, Ahijah, Isaac, William, and Joseph were Loyalists, and emigrated to Canada after the Revolutionary War.
