Susan Ann was born on February 15th, 1847 in Effingham Co., GA.1   Susan Ann's father was John Banaja Berry and her mother was Mary A. Metzger.  Her paternal grandparents were John Berry and Mary Reiser Hoffman; her maternal grandparents were David Metzger and Mary Waters. She had four brothers and five sisters, named John D., James Franklin, Rubin R., George Washington, Mary Maria, Martha Harriett, Margaret Elizabeth, Sarah Jane and Amelia Katherine.  She was the second youngest of the ten children. She had a half-sister named Sarah Amelia.  She died at the age of 39 on April 25th, 1886.1
