Catherine was born on January 6th, 1840.1   Catherine's father was James Bell and her mother was Rebecca West. She had eight brothers and three sisters, named Richard, John, James, George, David, Eligah, Abraham, William, Ann, Lucy and Emma.  She was the sixth oldest of the twelve children.1
