Lummie Kizer's father was Asbury Banks and his mother was Mary Lee Brooks. His paternal grandparents were Henry C. Banks and Elizabeth Pratt; his maternal grandparents were Leander Brooks and Mellissa Spencer. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Montgomery Burkhart, Henry Clifford, Orbin Elsworth, Orville, Sarah Lenis, Gladys and Linda. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Burland, Walker and Leona.-
