Gladys was born in 1923 in Kentucky.1   Gladys' father was Asbury Banks and her mother was Mary Lee Brooks.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry C. Banks and Elizabeth Pratt; her maternal grandparents were Leander Brooks and Mellissa Spencer. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Montgomery Burkhart, Henry Clifford, Lummie Kizer, Orbin Elsworth, Orville, Sarah Lenis and Linda. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Burland, Walker and Leona.  She died at the age of 16 on July 5th, 1939 in Kentucky.1
