Edward was born about 1845 in Mo. Edward's father was Elias Lewis Baldwin and his mother was Elizabeth. His paternal grandfather was Unkown Baldwin. He had two sisters named Mary and Lucy. He was the second oldest of the three children. He had three half-sisters named Amanda, Mahala and Anna.
