Emily Jane was born on February 10th, 1874 in High Street,Skelmersdale,Lancs,Eng.1 Emily Jane's father was John Allen and her mother was Elizabeth Battersby. Her paternal grandparents were John Allen and Elizabeth Wainwright; her maternal grandparents were James Battersby and Jane Lilley. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, James, William, Richard, George, Hannah, Ellen, Sarah and Sarah Lily. She was the oldest of the ten children.1 -
